Personalize your senior session by including what makes you YOU!
Why does every senior session start with a consult? Let me ask you, would you rather meet a photographer at a random location and snap some images, or would you rather that photographer get to know your kid, get to know what makes them unique, craft a session to showcase that uniqueness, and bring out that personality in their portraits? That’s exactly what the consult is for! It’s what begins the process of orchestrating a session to showcase your senior.
Our pets are family too!
Does your senior have a special pet that they can’t live without? A dog? Cat? Guinea pig? Bearded dragon? Horse? Bring it. I know our pets are such an integral part of our family, and they need to be captured!
Do you love the arts?
Is your senior artistic or musically inclined? I’m betting if the answer was yes, that has been a big part of who they are. Back in the day I was both. I took art all four years of high school, and went on to major in art education. I was also in band all four years of high school, and went on to participate in marching band in college. Yes, I was the band geek and I EMBRACED it wholeheartedly. I have NOT ONE senior portrait showcasing either of those activities. Yet I spent so many hours with both. It was who I was! Um... we need to include those for sure!
Is your senior sporty?
Today's seniors have often been doing their sport not for a couple of years, but a lifetime it seems by the time they graduate. Some have found their sport just recently in their senior year. Either way, of course that should be included in their session!
Got wheels??
Let’s chat vehicles. My first car was a used Ford Tempo. It was a nice little sedan. It got me where I needed to go, but it certainly did not make a statement. My best friend’s car was “the champ”. It was a little 5 speed hatchback that once again, got her where she needed to go. Our cars did not define us.
However, a lot of teens drive (or fly) something that makes a statement. It DOES define them. Many of them have saved pennies to buy their own car, fix it up, and make it as unique as they are. Yep… let’s showcase that part of you too!
Is your senior a bookworm?
I am a reader! Though my reading is limited to my time before bed, and it takes me forever to get through a book, it is part of me and a non-negotiable in my evening routine. Does your senior spend hours in a book? Does she love perusing the shelves of an eclectic bookstore looking for the next best read? What about the library? We can do a lot with a stack of books and a fun location!
