Addison wanted to incorporate her love for the outdoors, hiking, and all things mountainous in her senior session, so off on an adventure we went! Luckily, I had traversed these locations with my daughter two years back so I somewhat knew where we were headed. I grabbed sandwiches for the group before leaving High Point (because no senior should go hungry during her session) and we began our journey!
Senior Pictures in Gorgeous Flower Fields
Addison's one request (aside from the mountain views) were flower fields. I wasn't sure what we would find as the early summer flowers' season was over, and we hadn't quite hit the fall bloom time. However, we lucked out and found not one, but TWO gorgeous fields filled with these yellow blooms and Queen Anne's Lace! Score!
Senior Pictures with... COWS!
Our next stop was an old abandoned lodge just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. While the lodge was in much disrepair, It provided a beautiful backdrop complete with a field of grazing cows on the backside of the property.
Senior Pictures with a Mountain View... Not!
Our last stop during Addison's session was a short hike atop a hill promising 360 degrees of mountain views. What we didn't plan for was the hike that took us straight through a cloud that had settled exactly where those mountain vistas were to be seen. Instead of a gorgeous mountain sunset, we were treated with an eerie atmospheric fog.
Luckily Addison just went with the flow, and the resulting portraits were even better than we could have imagined. Her blue eyes popped with the gray backdrop! Besides, when would you ever get such cool images?!
Senior Portraits with Mountain views... Really!
Finally as we were coming back off the mountain, We looked to our left and saw the quintessential view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Luckily, no one was on the parkway, so we took full advantage of the stone barrier and the rad to complete her session!
