Why it’s important to get to know your photographer
When it comes to choosing a senior photographer, you want someone who will get to know your senior. Asking questions to understand their personality, interests, and hobbies is pertinent in order to make his uniqueness come through in his portraits. That consult meeting usually lasts 45 minutes to an hour. It sets the stage for an amazing senior portrait experience. Additionally, I provide you with resources to help you remember all that we talked about. Let's face it, wee are flooded with information these days, and having a tangible takeaway is essential!
It all started with some personality filled banner portraits
A few weeks before David’s session, I met with both David and his mom. We chatted about his likes and interests, although I already knew a little about him after photographing him and many other athletes for Bishop McGuiness High School in Kernersville, North Carolina. David was a three-season athlete competing in cross country, basketball, and track. At his high school, I created some unique banner images that showcased personality, and the parents and students both loved them!
Street basketball images for guys
What I didn’t know was that during Covid, when they lived in Burlington, North Carolina, David would spend his days playing street basketball with his buddies in their neighborhood park. It became his place of comfort and safety. This location was special to David, and therefore I knew we needed to make the trek to use this location to capture him. During our session he astounded me by shimmying up the basketball goal to sit on the rim.
Senior pictures with a car in High Point, North Carolina
David also shared the love of his car. Many high school seniors have a vehicle they love. David’s was no exception. You know David is coming when you spot his electric blue mustang heading down the road. We knew we needed a perfect location to capture his style, so choosing the graffiti pit and styling him in a black suit was the perfect combination. His addition of the aviator sunglasses was perfect to complete the look.
Show off your personality in your senior pictures
The conversation with David and his mom allowed us to plan an amazing session that was catered just to him! And David was comfortable with me during his session which allowed his personality to shine! David’s session couldn’t be less entertaining if he tried. He scaled basketball hoops, showed me is uncanny strength in a Zen yoga pose, and explored some interesting areas around graffiti!
David is headed to the University of North Carolina in Wilmington this fall. He couldn’t be more excited about his school choice. That school is lucky to have such a charismatic and kind individual! Go soar and do big things David!!
